Barbara is a retired teacher, active in the California Native Plant Society, and a crazed veggie and flower gardener. She and her husband Glenn have a sweet spot in Nevada City, Lost Hill Farm, a property with deep soil that was farmed by the same family for about 150 years, and includes many Felix Gillet nut and fig trees and about 40 other fruit trees. Her two local grandsons weed, pick, sell starts, and pee in the garden regularly. Lost Hill Farm has housed Sierra Harvest interns, participated in farm tours, and remains committed to farm education.
